Meet your Relationship Therapist in Chicago

Finding the right Relationship Therapist for you

You have endlessly scrolled through Instagram and YouTube hoping for answers about why your relationships aren’t working out and why you are struggling with self-acceptance. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the endless stream of information. It can almost make you feel stuck.

Starting therapy is a big step, but looking for a counselor in Chicago can feel just as daunting. You want a relationship therapist who can help you understand what’s preventing you from having the relationships you want while guiding you to stay true to yourself.

You are starting to realize that the tension, anxiety, and fatigue you feel in your body might be tied to your thoughts and feelings about your relationships. You’ve heard that our bodies hold emotions and memories and are curious about what experiences you might be carrying in yours.

Lisaura Lozada-Goode is a relationship therapist in Chicago specializing in helping adults build thriving relationships and become more embodied. Christian based counseling and therapy in Spanish available upon request.

Deepen your connection with yourself and others through relationship counseling in Chicago

I’m Lisaura Lozada-Goode, a relationship therapist, and I truly understand where you’re coming from. My deep curiosity about human behavior and a desire to understand why we do what we do led me to this field. We’re all naturally wired for connection, created to build safe, loving bonds, to love ourselves well, and to find our sense of purpose and belonging.

Together, we’ll uncover what's causing disconnection from yourself and others. I can support you in creating and nurturing new, meaningful connections so you can move closer to the fulfilling life you want.

An embodied approach with a relationship therapist can help you reconnect more fully

After earning my Psychology degree in Puerto Rico, I pursued my passion for movement in Chicago, completing a Master’s in Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling. I discovered how integrating thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations can deepen our connection with ourselves, others, and our spirituality.

With an emphasis on the mind-body connection and by using movement, I help adults like you become more present and engaged in their relationships and with themselves.

As a licensed clinical counselor, certified dance therapist, and trained partner dance instructor specializing in relationship counseling, I’m here to help you understand and transform relationship patterns that aren’t serving you, creating positive change through a more embodied approach.

Nurturing growth through mind-body awareness with a relationship therapist in Chicago

Collaborating with you to help you reach your goals is something I deeply value, and you can always count on being treated with respect and care.

My clients often share that developing a deeper awareness of their mind-body connection helps them tune into their body's signals, understand their needs, set boundaries with greater confidence, communicate more openly, trust themselves more, and show greater compassion for themselves and others. This can be your experience too!

If you're looking to integrate your faith and culture into your wellness journey, I'm here to support you. Whether you're interested in Christian-based counseling or prefer therapy in Spanish, please let me know—I’d be happy to accommodate your needs.

  • With over 15 years of experience in the mental health field, I have worked in outpatient, inpatient, and residential treatment settings, and was in group practice before founding Drawing Closer Counseling and Wellness.

I've had the opportunity to present locally and out of state on topics related to dance/movement therapy (DMT) and experiential therapies in couples counseling and in the treatment of co-occurring disorders, eating disorders, and substance abuse. I've enjoyed dancing for fun and professionally with training in styles like ballet, jazz, modern dance, and Puerto Rican folkloric dances amongst others.

In 2014, I completed a two-year ballroom teaching training program with master teacher Tommye Giacchino. I love to dance and perform when able, and during my free time, you may find me enjoying nature, watching a good show, or spending time with loved ones.

  • I love nature. I find it so recuperative, restoring, and beautiful. The flower in the logo is an orange Alstroemeria (“Peruvian or Tiger Lily”) and represents a strong bond as well as prosperity. It symbolizes loyalty, devotion, support, and survival, and it may be shared as a gesture of moving through the ups and downs of life.
